Philippines to keep interest rates on hold for a while yet

Despite low inflation and a recent run of weak activity data, today’s decision by the central bank of the Philippines (BSP) to keep its key policy rate on hold at 4.0% came as no big surprise. Looking ahead, the central bank seems in little hurry to adjust interest rates anytime soon, and we continue to expect rates to remain on hold until the end of next year.
