Philippines election to bring long run market gains

The new counting system was up to the job and the presidential election in the Philippines has produced a clear winner. The new government will target fiscal consolidation and measures to lift investment. We expect some good progress. Central bank policy rates should move up from July, which is likely to lift the peso, while this week’s rally in Manila stocks looks set to last.
