Bank Negara, as expected, kept policy rates unchanged today and will likely keep rates low for a long time. Malaysia’s upswing is less established and inflation pressures are low, especially when compared to Korea and India which are likely to hike rates soon. We believe that Bank Negara will be one of the last in Asia to hike rates and will move nearer to the middle of 2010 rather than early next year
