Some of the factors that have dragged the price of Brent crude below $100 per barrel may prove temporary, notably the weakness of European demand. Saudi Arabia might also cut output again in an attempt to stabilise the market. Nonetheless, the big picture is that the world is likely to be amply supplied with oil for the foreseeable future – even at much lower prices.
