Aside from cocoa, the outbreak of the Ebola virus in West Africa has not yet had a significant impact on commodity prices. The main reason is that the three most affected countries – Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone – are not large commodity exporters, with bauxite from Guinea being the main exception. The virus would need to spread further before its economic impact is felt more widely.
