Lower oil prices will hit growth of fledgling LNG industry

The impact of lower oil prices will be reflected in global oil-indexed gas prices in coming months. This will put pressure on the profitability of upcoming higher-cost LNG projects, most of which are underpinned by long-term oil-indexed contracts. Despite this, we expect strong growth in global gas demand, particularly from Asia, to support the fledgling LNG sector.
