Corn prices are poised to fall

US corn production estimates published today by the United States Department for Agriculture (USDA) were revised down sharply. However, this was largely anticipated by the market, and was mainly offset by significant cuts to US demand estimates, as reflected in the ensuing drop in corn prices. Hence, we still forecast that corn prices will fall by around 18% from its current level of 820 cents per bushel by end-2012.
