Are policymakers being complacent about inflation?

Consumer price inflation increased by much more than expected in November. But recent policy moves and official statements, including that from this weekend’s high-level policy meeting, give the strong impression that the government believes inflation is under control. We agree, but market jitters will remain high until it is clear that the headline inflation rate has peaked.
