Fears of skilled worker shortages overdone

While labour force retirements and shifting educational preferences among younger people may have contributed to a recent shortage of skilled trade workers in certain industries or regions, our analysis suggests that these shortages aren't a major problem for the economy as a whole. Moreover, as activity in the construction sector slows over the next year or two it is possible that, rather than getting worse, these labour shortages will actually begin to ease.
