Fast escape from oil slump unlikely

With the fallout from the oil price slump still taking its toll on the economy and manufacturing hobbling along, growth prospects look only marginally better now than at the start of the year. For the economy to have any hope of coming close to the Bank of Canada's April projections for GDP growth this year and inflation over the longer-term, we still think it needs to cut rates sooner rather than later.
