The further decline in the CFIB's small business barometer in July is an early indication that the overall pace of economic recovery may have slowed further. While GDP growth in the second quarter is on track to come at around 1.7% annualised, our seasonally-adjusted measure of the small business confidence index suggests that growth may have weakened further in the third quarter.
