Although the Bank of Canada held its view that the economy will soon accelerate and that interest rates will eventually rise, several dovish tweaks to its policy statement suggest even more strongly than before that it is in no hurry to tighten policy. We maintain the view that any move in interest rates over the next 12 to 24 months is more likely to be down than up.
