Consumer Prices (Feb.) & Retail Sales (Jan.)

The decline in annual headline inflation to 1.1% in February, from 1.5%, won't concern the Bank of Canada as it mainly reflects base-year effects in transportation and clothing. Meanwhile, the strong rebound in retail sales volumes in January, following the weather-related drop in the month before, suggests that the economy recovered fairly quickly.
