Despite lower energy prices, the annual headline inflation rate climbed to 1.6% in December, from 1.4%, as the massive decline in the Canadian dollar continues to boost some prices. Core inflation fell slightly to 1.9%, from 2.0%, but that decline was driven by a temporary weather-related drop in clothing prices.
