Figures released today by Brazil’s Sugarcane Industry Association, UNICA, show that 18.7 million tonnes of cane were harvested in the second half of November in the main Centre-South cane-growing region. This was 19% higher than in the same period last year and slightly above analysts’ expectations of 18.1 million tonnes in a Platts survey. However, the cane harvest was sharply down from 25.6 million tonnes in early November as disruption from rain increased.
