South African manufacturers face another difficult year

The fall in South Africa’s latest manufacturing PMI reading suggests that the sector ended 2013 on a soft note. Looking ahead, a gradual improvement in growth in the euro-zone should provide a boost to local manufacturers, but there are still a number of constraints that are likely to hold industry back.
