This week’s high-profile meeting of African and Asian leaders in Indonesia is unlikely to lead to any concrete measures to boost trade or investment between the two continents. Even so, the crucially important – and frequently misunderstood – economic relationship between Africa and Asia looks set to deepen over the coming years, which should support growth in Africa over the medium-term.
