The decline in South African headline inflation last month, to 4.8% y/y, and softening core price pressures may temper expectations in the market for interest rate hikes in the next few months. But with inflation set to rise this month on the back of the increase in oil prices, the tone of tomorrow’s Reserve Bank meeting is likely to be hawkish.
