Bank of England Credit Conditions Survey (Q1)

Mortgage availability is set to collapse in Q2. Part of that will reflect limitations caused by physical distancing measures due to the coronavirus. Yet broader concerns about the economy, house prices and shrinking risk appetites may have more lasting effects on lending availability. Meanwhile, the view on commercial property lending is more positive, perhaps reflecting the government’s emergency business lending measures.
