This week we got yet more data showing that economies in the region are slowing. Sweden’s Economic Tendency Indicator for September plummeted and suggested that growth has abruptly stalled, and Switzerland’s activity data are also turning down. That said, the prospect of recessions is not going to put central bankers off their plans to tighten monetary policy rapidly in the coming months.
