Official data signal May rebound, June surveys upbeat

This week the first official data for May confirmed the message from the high frequency data and the surveys that economic activity in the euro-zone is recovering fairly strongly. And the latest business surveys suggest that it continued to do so in June. But we suspect that the pace of the rebound will not be sustained during Q3 and that the level of activity, which is still very depressed, will remain well below pre-virus levels throughout this year and next.
