Housing demand was given a short-term boost following Trump’s win, as some buyers brought forward a planned purchase in order to secure a low mortgage rate before they increased further. But with the months’ supply of homes on the market close to a 12-year low, that rise in demand will primarily feed through into higher house prices. Indeed, the October Case-Shiller index showed the largest month-on-month rise in prices in over three years.
