Significant surge in Treasury yields is still unlikely

We do not place much weight on concerns that the recent rise in Treasury yields will snuff out the economic recovery or that it is the start of a sharp and sustained rise in yields similar to that seen in 1994. Even if the Fed does decide to taper the pace of its monthly asset purchases later this year, as we expect, Treasury yields could remain low for some time after.
