Mind the output gap trap

It is easy to fall into the trap of debating how large or small the output gap is. The simple truth, however, is that no one knows. But while the output gap is not directly observable, the consequences of it are. And for what it’s worth, the recent acceleration in the various price indicators suggests that the output gap may not be as large as some believe.
