The 280,000 gain in non-farm payrolls in May, which was well above the 225,000 consensus forecast but bang in line with our own call, adds to the evidence that the US economy is regaining momentum after another winter slowdown. This leaves the Fed firmly on track to begin hiking rates from near-zero this September.
