Consumer Confidence (Jun.)

The fourth consecutive monthly fall in the Conference Board measure of consumer confidence, to 62.0 in June from 64.4 in May, is a clear indication that the turmoil in equity prices remains a drag on sentiment. We suspect that the decline in gasoline prices to just below $3.50 a gallon, though, may have prevented confidence from slipping even further.
