Conf. Board Consumer Confidence (Feb.)

Despite lower household income and surging gasoline prices, consumers were relatively upbeat in February. The Conference Board's measure of consumer confidence rose for the first time in four months to 69.6 in February, from 58.4. Still, first-quarter consumption growth is likely to weaken to around half the 2.2% posted in the fourth quarter of last year.
