Will rising costs force retailers to sharply cut headcounts?

News that a number of retailers are seeking to shrink their workforce this year suggests that the jobs recovery that only really got underway in late-2013 may be over already. What’s more, the BRC has issued a dire warning, predicting that there could be as a many as 910,000 fewer retail jobs by 2025. While we think there is certainly a possibility of job losses further down the line, there are some reasons why these may not be as stark as the BRC expects.
