Pensions auto-enrolment another factor pushing up saving

The Government’s new pensions auto-enrolment scheme gets underway today. In its initial stages, the new contributions that some workers will start to pay will probably have only a modest effect on overall household saving. Nonetheless, this is just one of many factors likely to put upward pressure on the saving rate in the coming months.
