Is the recovery stronger than it looks?

Those inclined to see the glass half-full have pointed out that the recovery looks healthier once you strip out the sectors that have had a disproportionately adverse effect on growth recently. However, we cannot be sure that the weakness in these sectors won’t be repeated this year. And in any case, stripping them out does not alter the big picture of a lacklustre recovery.
