Interest rate cuts become more likely than not

In a change to our previous forecast, we now think there’s a fair chance that the Bank of England will cut interest rates if Brexit is delayed. That means interest rate cuts now feature in two of our three Brexit scenarios and would only be avoided if there’s a deal. However, we think the markets have gone too far in assuming that interest rates will be no higher than 0.50% as far as the eye can see.
