Growth revision would not change the big picture

Last week’s provisional GDP figures showing the UK economy unexpectedly contracting in Q3 have prompted much debate over whether the figures under-represented the true strength of the economy and will be subsequently revised higher. But even a big upward revision would do nothing to alter the big picture of very weak levels of activity and vast amounts of spare capacity.
