Could tourism dampen the consumer recovery?

Some of the recent recovery in spending by UK households has been accounted for by spending abroad. So while the official household spending figures show growth, data for domestic spending are less encouraging. And as the economy recovers, UK consumers’ foreign spending could rise even further. But there are good reasons to think that tourism spending in the UK will hold up well.
