Much of the focus of the press conference following the Bank of England’s August policy decision and Inflation Report was on the contribution of Brexit to the downgrade of its near term growth forecast. A closer look at the forecasts reveals that it was actually stronger imports which account for the majority of the revision, as opposed to weaker business investment.
