Bank lending to property: what’s in the numbers?

The Bank of England (BoE) recently switched from publishing quarterly commercial property lending data to releasing them monthly. Given that these data generate an above-average number of client queries, we have taken the opportunity in this Update to explain what the data do and do not cover. But, aside from an improvement in their frequency, the BoE’s publication changes have not added to the generally limited information available on commercial property finance.
