The economic indicators provided mixed messages this month. On the one hand, job creation is still healthy, inflation is low, nominal wage growth edged up and retail sales strengthened. Sentiment surveys, however, were less positive perhaps reflecting increased financial market volatility in the opening weeks of the year. That said, the yield on 10-year gilts rose to 1.47% as global growth fears receded in March.
