UAE HSBC/Markit PMI (Apr.)

The pick-up in the UAE’s PMI index in April provides grounds for cautious optimism, not least since it appears that the economy may be benefitting from strong growth elsewhere in the Gulf. Nonetheless, the risks to the economy are still skewed to the downside and we think activity is set to be weaker this year than in 2011.
