Precious metals outperform

The prices of precious metals benefitted from a weaker US dollar and heightened safe-haven demand in May. In addition, markets are pricing in only a limited Fed tightening over the next eighteen months. In contrast, the prices of most industrial metals fell, as weaker economic data out of China depressed investor sentiment. What’s more, there are indications that supply is starting to improve in some of the tighter industrial metals markets.
