Will Mexico hike interest rates?

A series of hawkish comments from Mexican policymakers has fuelled speculation that the central bank may finally be on the cusp of hiking interest rates – having kept them at record lows for the best part of four years. But we’re not convinced. Inflation has probably peaked, while the economy appears to have lost some steam in Q3. As such, we suspect that rates may be left at record lows until 2014.
