The statement accompanying yesterday’s decision by Peru’s central bank to cut interest rates made it clear that this did not mark the beginning of an easing cycle. And with inflation and economic activity likely to gradually rise, we expect the policy rate to be kept on hold at 2.25% for the foreseeable future.
