Mexican economy heading for a softer patch

The Mexican economy slowed in the second quarter of this year, and growth is likely to ease further over the next 6-12 months as the external environment deteriorates. Even so, in relative terms at least, Mexico looks well placed to weather a renewed downturn in the global economy. We expect it to be among the better performers in the region over the next couple of years.
