Mexican economy gaining momentum

The fact that the annual rate of Mexican GDP growth slowed to just 1.6% in the second quarter (from 1.9% in Q1) will probably grab the headlines, but the bigger picture is that q/q growth accelerated in Q2 for the second consecutive quarter. With the second half this year and beyond shaping up to be much better, we expect GDP growth to accelerate from around 3.0% this year to over 4.0% in 2015-16.
