Brazilian growth slows as consumer spending falters

The slowdown in Brazilian GDP growth, from 2.2% y/y in Q4 to 1.9% y/y in Q1, is further evidence that Latin America’s largest economy is still struggling for momentum and could increase pressure on the government to loosen the purse strings ahead of elections later this year.
