The softness of the latest Brazilian activity data adds to our view that the economic recovery this year will disappoint. Elsewhere, Argentina’s federal government refused to bail out the province of Buenos Aires ahead of a small upcoming dollar debt payment. This is the first sign that President Fernández is unwilling to service public sector international debt, albeit at a provincial level, and underscores the continued uncertainty over his approach to the country’s debt crisis.
