The Mexican economy is unlikely to de-couple from the neighbouring US in an absolute sense over the coming years, but it may at least decouple on a relative basis. Whereas our forecast for US GDP growth of 2% or so over the next two years would have previously been consistent with the Mexican economy expanding by 3%, we think that annual growth in Mexico could accelerate towards 4% over the coming years.
