The weaker-than-expected increase in Brazilian consumer prices last month, of 2.9% y/y, unchanged from December, reinforces our view that the rise in inflation over the course of this year will be gradual. While Copom signalled the end of the easing cycle at yesterday’s meeting, we think that interest rate hikes are unlikely until after the election.
