Confidence in “Abenomics” still high, but waning

The fall in consumer confidence in June suggests that the Abe government’s honeymoon period with the public is coming to an end. Sentiment remains at relatively high levels and could pick up again in July (in good time for the Upper House elections), especially if equity prices build on their gains since the June survey was taken. Nonetheless, the recovery has clearly lost some of its momentum.
