The wholesale price index is not the preferred measure of inflation for policymakers, but the broad-based rebound in the headline rate challenges our view that price pressures will ease this year. Nevertheless, given its current low rate and the fact that CPI inflation is starting to ease, the rise in WPI inflation will not get in the way of further easing.
