Wholesale Prices (Aug.)

Wholesale price inflation rose by more than most had expected in August, due mainly to a jump in the core component. A similarly sharp rise in core consumer price inflation last month – data will be released later today – would pose a significant challenge to our view that the RBI will cut rates again before the end of the year.
