Most emerging market (EM) countries have made further progress on implementing structural reforms in the past year. While this broad increase in competitiveness supports our view that EM stock markets should perform reasonably well in the coming years, it is unlikely to insulate them from volatility in the near-term, as investors come to revise their expectations for the pace of Fed tightening in 2017.
